In 1984, my Dad brought home a new computer for our family to try. This machine, a Macintosh, was different from any computer I had ever seen. It smiled at me. It allowed me to draw shapes. It made friendly sounds. The first thing I did was design a business card for an imaginary client.
Now, almost three decades later, I continue to enjoy designing for clients, no longer imaginary, to help them express their messages clearly and artistically. The Macintosh has evolved exponentially, an amazing tool for bringing design concepts into form.
The art has always been inside me, as a girl mingling with the pine trees, writing poems about the woods near our house, a young woman enjoying the blending of music, motion, and design, and a woman balancing motherhood, work, and creativity. I’ve always been a thinker, learning all I can about this world and the people in it.
I bring this curiousity to my work, striving to find the essence of things, bringing it forward for others to see. Graphic design is a profession that allows me to practice this curiosity on behalf of those I work with.
