As a child, I loved to pretend! In my imagination, I was many things: talk show host, variety show producer/performer, book publisher, poet. I spent my days starring in a movie about my life as I hiked through the pine trees, woods, and fields to the creek where I loved to play. Qualities of strength, independence, and adventure ran through my veins. The seeds of my life's passion were evident: to share messages with the world, manage projects, reach an audience, write, publish, and be in nature.
I believe that our blueprint for joyful activity can be found in our childhood. Asking ourselves the simple question, how did I most enjoy spending my unstructured time as a child? can lead us on a discovery mission to the work and play we'd most love to be doing as an adult. It's all there – in seed form: our true nature.
