Did you catch the solar eclipse on Monday? This is a photo of the crescent-shaped light beams it cast on my love seat. We had 95% totality here in Bloomington. That means during the apex, the moon was covering all but 5% of the sun! And here’s something I found striking: It didn't get as dark as I thought it would. Even at 5%, the sun shone quite brightly. What if this natural phenomenon had a message for us? Something like this: It only takes a sliver-sized opening for the light to pour in. Think of this in terms of your own creative journey. If you're feeling overwhelmed by the prospect of big changes, ask yourself this question: How can I open up just 5% more? 5%. That's all it takes. Crack the door open. And from there, momentum grows. So if you’ve been procrastinating getting to the page, or you're hearing the voice of your inner critic ringing in your ear, give this a try: Open the door to feeling 5% more courageous, clear, confident, or joyful. Just 5%. And watch what happens. Here are some more reflections on how the eclipse mirrors the creative journey:
I hope that you take this gift from the cosmos as an opportunity to crack the door open to your creative dream. The universe will meet you more than half way. It’s a law of nature!
